Mediterranean Chickpea Bowls with Tahini Sauce

Mediterranean Chickpea Buddha Bowls

While I love all the various flavors and spices found in Mediterranean food, one of the things I find that like most about this cuisine is the way textures, colors, and even temperatures are often combined a single dish.

I’ve made these vegan and gluten-free bowls in this same spirit. They showcase some of my favorite Mediterranean ingredients all in one bowl, like spiced chickpeas, cucumbers, tomatoes, and tahini, as well as an awesome mix of hot and cold, crisp and creamy!

Suburban Chicago library set to fire only African American librarian who spoke out about racial equity

Cheryl writes, “The sole African American librarian in Evanston Public Library (population ~75K– first ‘burb north adjacent to Chicago) faced a termination hearing today related to social media posts she made in protest to the library’s lack of action related to addressing racial equity in library services.”

Universal basic income experiments are popping up all over Europe

More Europeans are about to get some free money in the name of economics research.

The European Union is funding a new universal basic income experiment in Barcelona alongside similar tests in Helsinki and the Dutch city of Ultrecht.

Around 1,000 low-income households in one of the city’s poorest districts will be randomly selected to receive monthly payments of between €400 ($450) and €525 ($590) for two years. All told, the three programs will cost the EU €13 million ($14.7 million).

The study is the latest in a series of research efforts launched across the globe in recent months to put the policy to the test in a real-world setting.   Read more…
