Elon Musk draws farting unicorn to showcase Tesla's new Sketch Pad feature

TwitterFacebook

Of course the new software update for Tesla cars has a hidden feature. Of course, it’s a sketch pad.

And of course, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the feature with a drawing of what appears to be a farting unicorn.

Musk shared two drawings, the other one being a slightly displeased Mona Lisa, complete with a signature and all.

We’ll leave it to the cruel, cruel world of Twitter to critique these. As for how to get the sketch pad in your Tesla, Musk shared that, too: Tap the T on your Tesla’s center screen three times.  Read more…

People are incensed that an elitist dating app is promoting itself with racist slurs

TwitterFacebook

An elitist, racist dating app is making waves in Singapore — and its founder is defending it vehemently.

Herbert Eng is calling his app HighBlood. It promises to filter people based on “accountant-verified information” covering income, profession, and university education.

A week ago, it made a Facebook post advertising itself. In the text, it says the app promises “quality”, and specifies that it will exclude “banglas”, “maids”, and “uglies.”

The post was spotted by journalist Kirsten Han, who tweeted: “I have no words”: Read more…

Snapchat adds famous women to its selfie lenses for International Women's Day

TwitterFacebook

Snapchat is making its own contribution to International Women’s Day with, what else, a set of new animated lenses.

The app updated its lenses with three new offerings for the occasion: animated lenses celebrating Marie Curie, Frida Kahlo and Rosa Parks.

A spokesperson for Snap said the lenses will be live in the app for 24 hours and are meant to celebrate women they represent.

The lens for Kahlo, for example, transforms your face into the artist’s iconic look complete with flower crown, red lipstick and, of course, unibrow. In a statement, the Frida Kahlo Corporation said the lens is meant to “capture the faces of all her followers around the world.” Read more…

Donald Trump-inspired app counts how often men interrupt women

TwitterFacebook

Tired of being interrupted? A new app claims it may be able to help.

Called Woman Interrupted, the app uses your smartphone’s microphone to analyze conversations and track how many times men interrupt women in a given conversation.

Created by Brazilian ad agency BETC to coincide with International Women’s Day, the app’s creators say Woman Interrupted was inspired in part by the first presidential debate when Donald Trump repeatedly interrupted Hillary Clinton.

The app, which is available for both iOS and Android, uses your smartphone’s microphone to track conversations and determine the number of interruptions in a given conversation.  Read more…

You can now browse Pinterest via your smartphone camera.

Pinterest introduced a new feature called Lens, which allows users to search for Pins with their smartphone camera.

Available “in the coming weeks” for iOS and Android (in beta), the feature lets you snap photos of objects you come across in the real world and browse Pinterest for related topics based on them. You don’t even have to tell the service what it’s a picture of.

First previewed last summer, Lens uses computer vision and machine learning “to understand the objects you’re looking at and how they could be useful to you,” the company saysRead more…

You’ve seen the memes: President Trump proudly displaying the latest Executive Order, only the text has been replaced with a kid’s drawing. Or a proclamation that anime is now illegal. Or something equally silly and fun.

Now you can create your own meme if you have an Android phone, using a new app called Donald Draws: Executive Doodle

The app, noticed by Android Police, is simple: Draw or write whatever comes to mind — OK, not THAT, let’s keep it civil here — and poof, the app will slap it onto Trump’s Executive Order in a short video. You can even add a photo from your gallery. Read more…

Big changes are headed for Snapchat — again.

The company is set to roll out a major redesign of its app in the coming days, Snapchat confirmed Thursday. The new look, which is being previewed to the company’s beta testers on Android now, adds a search bar, new navigation and a global live story that will feature snaps from all over the world.

The new look is much more polished than previous versions of the app and the search bar makes content much easier to find. It sits at the top of the chat, camera and Stories sections of the app.

There, you can search for friends and get shortcuts to other parts of the app. Finding a friend’s name brings up a one-on-one chat. Read more…
