In a global first, TED Talks to be produced as a Hindi TV show with Shah Rukh Khan as host


In a first, TED has partnered with a major network and a big star to produce a show based on TED Talks in a language other than English, it said Thursday. The show will be hosted by Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan. 

TED has collaborated with Star India, a subsidiary of 21st Century Fox, to produce the series TED Talks India: Nayi Soch. (Hindi for New Thinking.) The show will air on Star Plus later this year. 

“I believe TED Talks India-Nayi Soch will inspire many minds across India. It is a concept I connected with instantly, as I believe that the media is perhaps the single most powerful vehicle to inspire change,” Shah Rukh Khan said in a press statement.  Read more…

Trailer of Bollywood film starring a friendly ghost has gone viral and how


A Bollywood movie trailer dropped last afternoon. It features a friendly ghost, a young man forced into marriage rituals, a bittersweet love story, and some rustic Indian music. 

Within a day, the trailer crossed 10 million views on Facebook and YouTube combined. And Indians can’t stop raving about it.

‘Phillauri’ is a story set in the village of Phiallur in Punjab state in northwestern India. The film stars (and is also co-produced by) one of Bollywood’s leading actors, Anushka Sharma, and Diljit Dosanjh, who debuted in last year’s hit Udta Punjab — a film picked up by Netflix globally. This Bollywood actor has launched stickers styled on looks from her movies


Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor has done a Kim Kardashian by launching in-app stickers styled after her. 

The stickers are inspired by her looks from the films Neerja, Aisha, Khoobsurat, I Hate Luv Storys and Dolly Ki Doli. Kapoor posted an in-app message announcing the new feature. 

She wrote: “Hey Tribe, now you can react just like I would, simply by using any of these stickers. Just adding a little more Sonam to the Sonam Kapoor App.”

She also shared a preview of it on Instagram.

It is no secret that Sunny Leone is wildly popular in India. The adult entertainment star, by virtue of her second innings in Bollywood, is not only the most searched personality on Google India, but also a rage-driver offline. 

Sample this. Leone’s dance moves as Laila in the recently released film Raees, starring Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, sent crowds into a tizzy at theaters across India.

Video of former Pakistan president dancing to a Bollywood song sets tongues wagging


A short, grainy, shaky video of a man grooving to a popular song has gone viral on social media. 

The man in question is former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharaf, who’s seen dancing to Dilliwali Girlfriend — a song from the 2013 hit Bollywood film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

The clip, though undated, was posted on Twitter by a veteran Pakistani journalist. And has since been shared widely.  

It has generated mixed responses. 

While some thought that Musharaf, a retired four-star army general, should have avoided the jig and have criticized him severely, some others have appreciated the former President’s zest for life calling him “young at heart”. Read more…

Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone made an appearance on the haloed Ellen DeGeneres Show and didn’t disappoint. 

Padukone, who starred with Vin Diesel in her debut Hollywood flick, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, on being quizzed by Ellen about rumored link-ups with the actor, said, “Well, there’s no smoke without fire.”

When a startled Ellen pressed further, she added, “But, it’s all in my head! So yeah, I mean in my head I think, like yeah, we are together and we have this amazing chemistry, and we live together and we have these amazing babies! But it’s all in my head.” Read more…

Bollywood actress and Quantico lead Priyanka Chopra has done it again!

She’s bagged her second consecutive People’s Choice Award winning ‘Favorite Dramatic TV Actress’ over Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo and popular Hollywood face Viola Davis. 

Last year, PC, as she’s popularly known, had bagged the ‘Favorite Actress in a New TV Series’ award for her hit ABC show, becoming the first South Asian woman to receive the honor. She plays an FBI agent, Alex Parrish, in Quantico.
