The Rock looked ready to whoop some ass at the Oscars because he WAS

TwitterFacebook

The face says, “Do I need to kick some ass and save the day — right now, in real life?”

And that’s because, well … he was seriously thinking about it.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was just one of hundreds of glorious faces caught reacting in the moment as La La Land, mistakenly identified as Best Picture winner at the Oscars, gave way to Moonlight — the reasons for which have now been well-documented.

But the best images from that moment weren’t of La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz correcting the mistake, or Moonlight director Barry Jenkins accepting in disbelief. Read more…

Twitter can't get enough of Dev Patel and Andrew Garfield's bromance at the Oscars

TwitterFacebook

We have very bad news for Ryan Reynolds.

It looks like Andrew Garfield has a new bromance, just weeks after the two made out upon losing the Golden Globes’ Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy to Ryan Gosling.

At the Academy Awards ceremony, Garfield was pictured in a very warm embrace with Lion star and fellow Oscar nominee Dev Patel.

Many people on Twitter couldn’t cope with the cuteness and openly asked for the two actors to kiss:

1) let andrew garfield kiss another man at this award show
2) let it be dev patel

Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling recreated their 'Mickey Mouse Club' days at the Oscars

TwitterFacebook

It’s a big Oscars night for both Ryan Gosling and Justin Timberlake.

Gosling’s nominated for Best Actor for his role in La La Land. Meanwhile Timberlake’s been running around all night promoting that song from Trolls and photobombing his wife.

So, considering the pair’s shared history, it’s cool these two had a chance to catch up during Sunday’s show. They go way back— both Timberlake and Gosling were stars on The Mickey Mouse Club in the ’90s.

Iranian film 'The Salesman' wins Oscar in biggest political statement of the night

TwitterFacebook

Director Asghar Farhadi’s absence at the Oscars on Sunday spoke almost as loudly as the award itself.

The Iranian filmmaker, who won his second Oscar for The Salesman, did not accept the award in person because he and other members of the film’s cast boycotted the awards following President Donald Trump’s travel ban.

It’s a great honor to be receiving this valuable award for a second time,” Iranian-American engineer Anousheh Ansari said reading a statement from Farhadi on stage. “I’m sorry I’m not with you tonight, my absence is out of respect for the people of my country and those of the other six nations who have been disrespected by the inhumane law that bans entry of immigrants to the U.S.” Read more…

Nicole Kidman is a great actress and a terrible clapper and that is okay

TwitterFacebook

Important Oscars update: Nicole Kidman claps weird.

Clapping, of course, is a joining of the hands with fluctuating levels of force as a sign of glee or respect. It’s hard to do weird, but Nicole Kidman is managing it quite well.

Look, we know this is a strange thing to call out — it’s petty. To be honest with you, we’ve held off quite a bit but we just can’t remain silent any more: Nicole Kidman claps in an unorthodox way.

Could celebrities be… not just like us?

Take a look at Kidman’s clapping below.

See?

5 years later, celebrities put their hoodies up for Trayvon Martin

TwitterFacebook

On Feb. 26, 2012, an unarmed teenager carrying iced tea and candy was shot and killed on a Florida street.

His name was Trayvon Martin, and five years on, the movement inspired by his death lives on. Left for dead by a Neighborhood Watch volunteer, the fate of Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin’s son fanned the flames that became the Black Live Matter movement.

An image of Martin dressed in a hoodie was seared on the American conscience, and the act of “putting your hoodie up” became a protest against a culture that makes instant criminals of black boys. Read more…

TwitterFacebook

Talk about an upset. Science fiction and fantasy movies haven’t always fared well at the Academy Awards, but within minutes of each other, Suicide Squad and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them won Oscars for makeup and costume design, respectively.

These are big — and confusing — wins for Warner Bros. and fans of both DC’s comic books and Harry Potter.

Ava DuVernay's Oscars dress has more meaning behind it than you think

TwitterFacebook

Everyone is watching the 89th Academy Awards, which makes it a prime place for celebrities to represent causes and organizations dear to their hearts.

Director Ava DuVernay used her red carpet moment to subtly comment on Trump’s travel ban by  highlighting a gown designed by a studio from a majority-Muslim country as an act of solidarity.

Nick Kroll and John Mulaney, hosts of the Independent Spirit Awards, went full-savage on Hollywood, President Donald Trump, and everything else under the California sun on Saturday. In doing so, they achieving new levels of “they did not just say that” at the one awards show that seems to re-define the limits of awards-show-season jokes every year.
