Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump comes clean on ‘SNL’: ‘I do not care about America’

TwitterFacebook

Every time Saturday Night Live takes a few weeks off, the well of topical humor seems to get deeper and deeper.

Remember “Do not congratul-gate”? The note senior White House staffers allegedly gave President Trump as a reminder before his post-election call with Russian president Vladimir Putin? Seems like forever ago.

But with Alec Baldwin at their disposal, the writers at Saturday Night Live would be amiss not to cram three weeks worth of Trump jokes into a single cold open.

“First up a big congratulations to Vladimir Putin,” Baldwin said, after a perfunctory “Fox News” themed setup starring Leslie Jones as “Outnumbered” anchor Harris Faulker. Read more…

‘SNL’ takes Roy Moore to task with some Alabama sensibility, courtesy of Kate McKinnon

TwitterFacebook

Another week, another 34,989 sexual assault and harassment stories in the news (that’s an official number). On Saturday night, Saturday Night Live tackled the highly icky report that Alabama Republican senatorial candidate Roy Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a minor with the man whose seat he’s filling: Jeff Sessions.

This week’s cold open started with a sensible Vice President Mike Pence (Beck Bennett) counseling Judge Moore (Mikey Day) on the best course of action. His counsel: Stepping aside isn’t the worst thing in the world, if you look at it the right way.

Donald Trump and Paul Manafort take a very naked shower on ‘Saturday Night Live’

TwitterFacebook

Donald Trump took a naked shower with Paul Manafort on Saturday Night Live tonight, and yes, things got weirder from there.

Kicking the episode off in classic SNL fashion, Alec Baldwin reprised his role as Trump – the real-life version of whom is on his first trip to Asia as president, the late night version of whom snuck off to check on his old buddy Manafort (Alex Moffat) after his no good very bad week.

But don’t worry. Melania is happy with the (very) fake lookalike Baldwin’s Trump sent along in his stead. In fact, she’s falling in love!

To make absolutely sure Manafort isn’t wearing a wire, Trump insisted the pair pop in the shower together, as one does. He even got in a shot at the Hollywood scandal du jour. Read more…

Kellyanne Conway as Pennywise is everything you’ve ever wanted from ‘Saturday Night Live’

TwitterFacebook

Maybe you see it. The resemblance. Kellyanne Conway. Pennywise from IT. Kellywise the Dancing Clown.

The writers at Saturday Night Live sure did.

Tonight’s offering in the ongoing cinematic saga of Kellyanne vs. Anderson Cooper featured Alex Moffat’s Cooper (clad in a yellow raincoat, natch) finding a reason to peek down a storm drain — while everyone and their brother shouted at home, “DON’T GO NEAR THE STORM DRAIN, COOP!

Hiding inside was the disturbingly clownish Conway, played expertly as always by Kate McKinnon. Read more…

Jason Aldean surprises 'SNL' with Tom Petty 'Won't Back Down' tribute to Las Vegas

TwitterFacebook

Saturday Night Live has always taken great care to strike the right tone after tragedy, and this week’s episode managed to delicately address a terrible week on multiple levels, but with a single, thoughtful stroke.

Instead of a cold open mocking the Donald Trump administration — breaking what must have been some kind of record streak — the first face we saw was that of country singer Jason Aldean, about to make his first public performance since leaving the stage last Sunday as the shooting rampage in Las Vegas began last Sunday night.

Tina Fey eats a cake for America on SNL's 'Weekend Update: Summer Edition'

TwitterFacebook

Tina Fey didn’t like seeing racists march through her college town.

“It broke my heart to see these evil forces descend upon Charlottesville,” the University of Virginia graduate told Colin Jost on Weekend Update: Summer Edition.

Then she laid into Donald Trump.

“Donny John comes out and he says that he condemns violence on many sides, on many sides, Colin. I’m feeling sick because, you know, I have seen Raiders of the Lost Ark. I wasn’t confused by it. No, Colin, Nazis are always bad, I don’t care what you say.”

When talking about a planned alt-right rally on Saturday in New York City, she settled on a desert-based method of protesting. Read more…

Yes, Vladimir Putin has gone shirtless again to remind you of his dad bod power

TwitterFacebook

You already know that the golfing, TV watching, Twitter-obsessed U.S. president is on vacation, but you might not have known that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is on vacation, too.

Luckily for you, we just got our hands on Putin’s vacay photos, and they’re full of spymaster-in-the-Siberian-tundra cheesecake.

In photos released by the Kremlin on Saturday, Putin is shown going on a fishing trip with a few friends.

The first photo (above) is innocent enough, showing the Russian leader steering a boat through the Siberian waters. And look at all those layers. Since it’s not that cold in the Republic of Tuva (where the fishing trip occurred) this time of year, things probably got steamy pretty fast.  Read more…

'SNL' says goodbye to Bobby Moynihan with one more Drunk Uncle for the road

TwitterFacebook

Only one SNL character could possibly be interested in Making America Drunk Again.

After nine seasons on SNL, Bobby Moynihan did his last show on Saturday, and of course Drunk Uncle stopped by “Weekend Update” to talk about Donald Trump.

He said some stuff but … pfffffthbbllltlbt.

Moynihan took on many roles during his long SNL tenure — he was Chris Christie during the campaign — but his rambling, blubbering take on everyone’s least intelligible relative will be the one for which he’s best remembered. Read more…

SNL just came up with a hilarious version of Alexa designed for senior citizens

While the White House was definitely the focus of tonight’s episode of Saturday Night Live, the show managed to fit in a great sketch on Amazon’s Alexa. The sketch was an advertisement for a (faux) device called Alexa Silver, touted as the only smart speaker built specifically for “the greatest generation“.

Yes, Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer hiding in the bushes on 'SNL' is perfection

TwitterFacebook

The wonderful thing about Melissa McCarthy hosting SNL this week is we knew she was going to bless us with another turn as White House Press Secretary Sean “Spicy” Spicer. But things got a little… weird.

The sketch began with Aidy Bryant as deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders greeting the press in lieu of Spicer, who she said was fulfilling some Naval Reserve duties (but who was totally hiding in the bushes outside the press room).

The press took the opportunity to beg Sanders to take over briefing duties full time.

“You are clearly articulate and charming, whereas Sean is bullish—” and will spray you with a fire extinguisher, apparently.  Read more…

Watch Chris Pine's sexy lip sync battle on 'Saturday Night Live'

TwitterFacebook

Saturday Night Live taught the world tonight that hunky superhero tough guy Chris Pine can sing

But apparently he can lip sync, too.

Pine, Bobby Moynihan, and a few other SNL regulars play grease monkeys coming to terms with their love of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

The hammer comes down, though, when the conversation shifts to Lip Sync Battle. Pine challenges Moynihan, and, well, IT’S ON.

Fortunately for the viewing public, the battle, featuring a lip sync to an Erika Jayne song (she’s apparently a Real Housewife of Beverly Hills!), ended with some delightful booty shaking by Pine. And, I mean, Moynihan too, but Pine. Read more…

LOL Melissa McCarthy just destroyed Sean Spicer again on 'SNL'

TwitterFacebook

Melissa McCarthy made another surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live
tonight, delivering a special message from the White House Easter Bunny

But hey! That’s not the Easter Bunny! It’s Sean “Spicy” Spicer — and he’s very, very sorry.

“You all got your wish: Spicy finally made a mistake,” McCarthy said, offering a mea culpa for the time the White House Press Secretary actually, really, in real life said Syrian president Bashar al-Assad is worse than Hitler

But that was just the tip of the slip-up iceberg

“Yeah, I know they’re not really called Holocaust centers,” McCarthy said.

“I clearly meant to say concentration clubs,” she added. Read more…

Alec Baldwin plays both Donald Trump and Bill O'Reilly in searing 'SNL' skit

TwitterFacebook

Alec Baldwin played two problematic, white American men on this week’s Saturday Night Live.

He first appeared as President Donald Trump in the show’s cold open and later pulled double duty, playing both Trump and Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly in a scathing sketch addressing the sexual harassment allegations against the O’Reilly Factor host.

Baldwin’s O’Reilly opened the segment by promising to address “the scandal everyone’s been talking about all week.”

“The scandal no one thought I’d have the guts to address head on,” he added, “about the shocking allegations of abuse of power that have been leveled against … the Obama administration.” Read more…

Watch Scarlett Johansson skewer Ivanka Trump in 'SNL' perfume ad

TwitterFacebook

Sexy Amber. Bombshell. Mademoiselle. With perfumes like these, you can smell like anything you want.

And if you’re Ivanka Trump, you can smell “Complicit.”

Statuesque blonde host Scarlett Johansson was a dead ringer for statuesque blonde first daughter Trump in Saturday Night Live‘s spoof perfume ad, which featured Johansson walking through a gilded room with a gaggle of women admiring her — at first.

“A woman like her deserves a fragrance all her own,” the seductive voiceover says. “Because she’s beautiful. She’s powerful. She’s…’Complicit.'” Read more…

Kate McKinnon's Kellyanne Conway will sit and text just about anywhere on 'SNL'

TwitterFacebook

If a meeting with representatives from historically black colleges wasn’t important enough for Kellyanne Conway to get off her damn phone and take her feet off the couch, an hour and a half of live television ain’t gonna do it either.

Conway has been a fixture on Saturday Night Live this season, with Kate McKinnon playing the president’s advisor in increasingly erratic fashion as the weeks go by.

But tonight, instead of a whole sketch dedicated to the photo that broke Twitter (this week, anyway), McKinnon popped up in character throughout the episode, sitting in the now iconic pose.  Read more…

Kate McKinnon and Hillary Clinton spotted processing this hellscape together

Two Hillary Clintons walk into a bar and simultaneously declare, “I’m with her.”

The real Hillary Clinton and Kate McKinnon, Saturday Night Live‘s resident HRC impersonator, caught up over dinner this week and for the first time, we’re wondering if Amy Poehler ever gets FOMO.

According to Page Six, the pair laughed as they dined at Orso in Manhattan on Wednesday evening.  One diner put their own spin on the Trump supporter chant and yelled, “lock him up!”

After dinner, Clinton checked out Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard and the winner of the popular vote in the 2016 presidential election got a standing ovation from the crowd.  Read more…

Kellyanne Conway will not be ignored, Jake. Especially not in Saturday Night Live‘s remake of the 90s thriller Fatal Attraction.

Parodying Spicer’s infamously testy relationship with the press, Spicer/McCarthy used his bully pulpit Saturday to physically bully journalists.

Twitter and mistaken identities go hand in hand. Seems like not a day goes past that someone isn’t getting the hate (or praise) that’s meant for someone else with the same name.
