The whole show is a blast, but Sara Bareilles owned this standout moment when she sang one of the musical’s most well-known numbers, “I Don’t Know How To Love Him.”

‘The Simpsons’ paid tribute to the late Stephen Hawking

TwitterFacebook

Stephen Hawking has been honored by The Simpsons.

The astrophysicist had a number of cameos on the show in its now 29-season run, perhaps most notably in 1999 when he appeared at the end of the episode “They Saved Lisa’s Brain.”

The show ended Sunday’s episode with an image of Hawking in his now iconic helicopter and jet-powered wheelchair, complete with Lisa Simpson sitting on his lap.

The Simpsons’ executive producer Matt Selman, who called Hawking the show’s “most intelligent guest star,” posted the image on Twitter. Read more…

Trailer for ‘Silicon Valley’ Season 5 drops, minus TJ Miller of course

TwitterFacebook

What’s life going to be like for the Silicon Valley gang, sans Erlich Bachman?

Following last season’s departure of TJ Miller, who plays Bachman, fans have likely wondered what Season 5 will look like — especially without that priceless tension between him and Jian Yang.

HBO dropped a trailer for the upcoming season on Tuesday, and well, it’d certainly appear the rivalries are staying the same. Pied Piper is still butting heads with Hooli, and its founder Richard Hendricks, played by Thomas Middleditch, is still trying to prove himself as a competent leader.

Same old, maybe, but we shall see. Season 5 of Silicon Valley debuts on Mar. 25. Read more…

The first draft of that steamed hams script from ‘The Simpsons’ was excellent too

TwitterFacebook

So, the steamed hams skit in The Simpsons’ “22 Short Films About Springfield” is a pretty hot meme right now.

Also known as “Skinner & The Superintendent,” the scene featuring Superintendent Chalmers and Principal Skinner is one of the show’s funniest, but has landed an extra bit of comedic oomph thanks to the plethora of remixes by people on the internet.

In case you haven’t been keeping up, here’s the steamed hams skit performed to a custom Guitar Hero song, for some reason.

Or this guy who hasn’t seen The Simpsons before, so he improvises the whole scene in one take. Read more…

Seth MacFarlane seemed to hint about the Kevin Spacey allegations back in 2005

TwitterFacebook

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane seems to know a lot more than he gives off.

Following the allegations of sexual assault and harassment against Harvey Weinstein, a clip from the best supporting actress Oscar nominations in 2013 went viral.

MacFarlane made an awkward joke about the nominees, and congratulated them because they “no longer have to be pretend to be attracted” to Weinstein.

Now in the wake of accusations that Kevin Spacey made sexual advances toward actor Anthony Rapp when Rapp was 14 years old, another clip is making the rounds on social media.  Read more…

Jimmy Kimmel tears apart his critics on health care bill

TwitterFacebook

Jimmy Kimmel isn’t taking your shit lying down.

On Tuesday night, Kimmel went to town on the Graham-Cassidy bill — proposed by Republican senators Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy — for failing the “Jimmy Kimmel test.”

In the monologue, Kimmel said Cassidy “lied right to my face” when he appeared on the show in May, where the senator promised coverage for kids like Kimmel’s son who was born with congenital heart disease.

In the day after Kimmel’s outburst on the bill, politicians and television personalities lined up to criticise the talk show host. Like Cassidy, who accused Kimmel of not understanding the bill, when talking to CNN‘s Chris Cuomo on Wednesday morning.   Read more…

What Jaime's big moment with Cersei means for 'Game of Thrones' Season 8

TwitterFacebook

Ah, Jaime Lannister. Longtime kingslayer, first-time queen betrayer.

Turns out that most of the biggest political maneuvers in Game of Thrones Season 7 finale were a farce. For all her apparent fear of the wight from beyond the Wall and waffling over whether or not to join the Great War, Cersei was full of it the whole dang time.

That was one of the bombshell revelations from the episode’s concluding sprint across Westeros: Cersei still gonna Cersei. She’s been a vile, duplicitous monster for seven straight seasons and, hey… she’s still got it!

Although she agreed to stand beside Dany, Jon, and their assembled forces to fight in the Great War, Cersei never intended to do anything of the sort. Instead, she sent punk rock pirate boytoy Euron Greyjoy off on a secret mission to retrieve the Golden Company mercenaries: 20,000 warriors — with elephants — who can defeat dragons, I guess? Marvel's 'Inhumans' hits Comic-Con with a super-sized IMAX trailer

TwitterFacebook

Meet the royal family of Marvel — or Attilan, anyway.

At Comic-Con on Thursday, ABC debuted the new trailer for Inhumans, a new TV show described by Marvel’s Jeph Loeb as being “so big, we could not contain it to television.”

Indeed, it’s so huge it’s hitting IMAX before it comes to ABC. And that means we’ve got a special IMAX trailer to share with you today.

It goes without saying, of course, that watching an IMAX trailer on your laptop or phone won’t do it justice – so if you’d like to get the full effect, keep an eye out for the new Inhumans IMAX trailer in front of Dunkirk this weekend. Read more…

'SNL' says goodbye to Bobby Moynihan with one more Drunk Uncle for the road

TwitterFacebook

Only one SNL character could possibly be interested in Making America Drunk Again.

After nine seasons on SNL, Bobby Moynihan did his last show on Saturday, and of course Drunk Uncle stopped by “Weekend Update” to talk about Donald Trump.

He said some stuff but … pfffffthbbllltlbt.

Moynihan took on many roles during his long SNL tenure — he was Chris Christie during the campaign — but his rambling, blubbering take on everyone’s least intelligible relative will be the one for which he’s best remembered. Read more…

Someone cut the whole 'Breaking Bad' series into a two-hour feature film

TwitterFacebook

While there’s plenty of films that run for ages (looking at you, Lord of The Rings trilogy) it’s not easy to fit a television series into a movie-length format. Especially not one that’ll put you to sleep.

But by golly, someone has managed to do it with one of the finest TV series of the last decade, Breaking Bad

As many of the series’ best moments take place at the end of an episode, the “film” is missing those heavy-breathing, suspenseful moments before the credits flash “Executive Producer, Vince Gilligan.” However, it’s not at all bad.

In fact, at over two hours running time, it’s perfect for that one friend of yours who can’t be bothered watching the whole series. Read more…

Kate McKinnon's Kellyanne Conway will sit and text just about anywhere on 'SNL'

TwitterFacebook

If a meeting with representatives from historically black colleges wasn’t important enough for Kellyanne Conway to get off her damn phone and take her feet off the couch, an hour and a half of live television ain’t gonna do it either.

Conway has been a fixture on Saturday Night Live this season, with Kate McKinnon playing the president’s advisor in increasingly erratic fashion as the weeks go by.

It’s finally time to go deep on Deep Space Nine.

In the Star Trek universe, Deep Space Nine is not necessarily one of its brightest stars. Not because the show wasn’t as good, interesting or long-lived as the others (it ran seven seasons from 1993-1999), but because it was unlike any Star Trek property that’s come before or since.

Darker, moodier and, perhaps, more static than the rest, DS9 placed its crew in a space station that never moved. It has enjoyed less acclaim and nostalgia than the original series or Star Trek: Next Generation and sits somewhere above the short-lived Enterprise series and just below Voyager on the Star Trek interest scale. Here’s what some critics had to say about the show, which debuts on HBO on Jan. 15.
