What we do
28/02/2004
We look after children who have lost their parents: through war, disease or poverty.
Traditionally SOS Children's Villages provide children with a home, a family and a new mother in a purpose built local village but the sheer numbers of parentless families where parents have died of HIV/AIDS has led us to start new solutions supporting child-led families in situ (see Aids Africa Projects).
In total we have more than 50,000 children in our care in our villages and help around 500,000 through nearly a thousand schools, skills training centres, social support programs and medical centres.
