This worrying consequence of the climate crisis has revealed forgotten secrets usually submerged deep underwater. ‘Hunger stones’ in the River Elbe, dinosaur footprint in Texas, megalithic monuments in Spain, and Buddhist statues in China are only a few of the fascinating relics found at the bottoms of our drying rivers. But while some parts of the world saw unprecedented drought, others were hit by devastating floods. In Pakistan, over 33 million people have been displaced due to the ongoing record-breaking floods which created a new body of water so large that it can now be seen from space.
