Iranian Missile Strikes Hit Key Israeli Intelligence and Command Buildings

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps on June 20 launched successful strikes on key sites belonging to the Israel Defence Forces and the country’s intelligence services, as part of the 17th wave of attacks under Operation True Promise 3. The operation was initiated on June 13 in response to large scale Israeli attacks on a range of Iranian civilian and military targets, and has proven successful in holding Israeli targets at risk while bypassing and largely depleting its missile defences. Although Israel has imposed particular though censorship on the publication of footage of Iranian attacks, some leaked footage has shown major damage, plumes of smoke, and successful missile attacks. There has been a considerable flight from major Israeli population centres as a result, much as there has been from the Iranian capital Tehran under Israeli bombardment.

According to the Revolutionary Guard, command and control centres as well as the spying hubs were primary targets in the 17th wave of attacks, with a spokesman for the corps noting the world needed to "wait for our surprises.” The corps has employed increasingly advanced missile classes to strike Israeli targets, with its most capable ballistic missile class the Fattah seeing its first combat use on June 18, and using a hypersonic glide vehicle to bypass Israeli defences. Among the Israel targets recently successfully hit by Iranian strikes have been the IDF technology base in Be’er Sheeva, serves as the Computer Security Directorate of the Israel Defence Forces. An attack using a single ballistic missile was able to hit the facility after evading interception. A Unit 8200 intelligence facility in the Negev Advanced Technologies Park, which serves as the centre for its cyber defence directorate, was also successfully targeted in a missile strike. Stock exchange and diamond exchange buildings in Tel Aviv were also reported to have been particularly serious damaged.
