Fundraising challenges
Good luck and best wishes from SOS Children to the following people have set themselves all sorts of interesting challenges! If you are doing a challenge on behalf of SOS and are not listed here - please email Caroline, caroline@soschildren.org.
Julian Franklin and Sophie Laing, a couple living in Brighton, have set themselves the challenge of overlanding across 22 of Africa’s countries to explore this beautiful continent, whilst inspiring support for our work there.
Julian and Sophie have set their sights high, aiming to raise £100,000 for SOS Children in Africa and they are off to a great start.
To date, the ambitious couple has featured in ‘The Argus’, Brighton, Hove and Sussex’ local paper, received personal endorsement from Anthony Worral Thompson and created a website to track their endeavour's: www.innocentsabroad.net
Their fundraising plan is underway with Uncle Monkey, a popular New Zealand band donating the proceeds of a gig to SOS Children in the first week of February to SOS and Due South, a Brighton restaurant, donating £1 from diners’ bills to SOS Children throughout February and March.
Helping to raise awareness as well as funds, The Golden Lion group, a chain of 12 Brighton pubs, is advertising the couple’s trip and SOS Children on the back of their beer mats with an option to text and donate to our work in Africa; there will be 10,000 in circulation, so look out for them!
Julian and Sophie depart for their African adventure in mid-February following our World Orphan Week campaign.
SOS Children wishes them all the best! If you would like to give your support to their challenge, you can contribute to their fundraising target here:
