That is all

‘American Vandal’ co-creator turns to esports in ‘Players’ trailer for Paramount+

A still from the Paramount+ series

There’s nothing as instantly memorable as “Who did the dicks?” in this trailer for Players on Paramount+, but it nonetheless vibes along the same wavelength as American Vandal.

Tony Yacenda, co-creator of that hit Netflix mockumentary series, is also at the helm of this Paramount project, along with Vandal co-creator Dan Perrault in writing and executive producer roles. Players focuses on a fictional League of Legends esports team that descends into chaos when their hunt for a championship win pits longtime pro and team lead Creamcheese (Misha Brooks) against Organizm (Da’Jour Jones), a natural LoL star who just joined.

This trailer sets up that conflict while giving a taste of the humor that’s to come. Players has the look and feel of a narrative-based profile, in a distinct step away from American Vandal‘s true crime story. But it boasts the same kind of dry, straight-faced humor that made its creator’s debut project on Netflix such a hit.

Look for Players when it hits Paramount+ on June 16.
