Hot take: No one actually needs to splurge on the latest and greatest TV. Display technologies are developing at a rate slow enough to keep most TVs in rotation for at least a few years, so unless you’re someone who’s fiending to see shows in 8K, you can safely opt for an “older” model that’ll save you a few hundred bucks.
Take LG’s excellent C1 OLED TV from 2021. While a newer model made its debut at CES 2022 (the aptly named LG C2 OLED), the general consensus is that its slightly brighter OLED “evo” panel doesn’t justify its much-higher price tag.
