Well, That Was Us.
Though we’re not quite recovered from the penultimate episode, NBC’s This Is Us, the six-season drama that became notorious for making us cry, aired its final episode on Tuesday, closing the book on the Pearson family forever — but never in our hearts.
It’s the end of a long, emotional, wonderful era. We’ve said brutal goodbyes, cried our mascara out, and yelled NOPE multiple times at our screens.
And to mark the final ever episode of Season 6 and the series itself, of course, the cast, crew, and fans hit the tweets to expunge their Big Feelings from their tired souls.
“The end of This Is Us has been a bittersweet but lovely march for those of us who have worked on it,” wrote creator Dan Fogelman in a Twitter post Tuesday. “We’ve had so many occasions to clink glasses, and give gifts and say sentimental things to other sentimental people at a sentimental moment in time.
“It is not lost on me how many shows there are out there, how many answers there are to the ‘what are you watching?’ question at the stilted dinner party,” he continued. “It is not lost on me that people come home from long days at work, and long days with children, at a tricky time in the world — and get just a few hours to themselves. And if you’ve chosen to spend ANY of those hours with us – whether you stayed from start to finish, or lapsed somewhere in between – I just want to say thank you.”
The cast were posting like the wind as the finale neared, with Mandy Moore, who played beloved mama Rebecca Pearson, sharing a moving quote from her own character.
As did Sterling K. Brown, who made award history over the years in his role as Randall Pearson, and posted a quote from his (and our dad) Milo “Jack Pearson” Ventimiglia, in the final episode.
Fogelman posted an image of the final scene shot with Ventimiglia, who already knew we’d be crying in the finale.
Chrissy Metz compiled some of her favourite Kate Pearson moments for you to take a trip down memory lane. “I am forever changed,” she said in her Twitter video.
Rounding out the Big Three, Justin Hartley, who played Kevin Pearson, posted a sweet photo of his onscreen siblings — and one of the prop he was gifted from the set.
Behind the camera, the writers of This Is Us were also posting their heartfelt farewells.
Meanwhile, fans were bawling their already-used-to-this eyes out.
