That is all

Sweet trailer for ‘Judy Blume Forever’ documentary pays tribute to the iconic author

Judy Blume reads one of her books.

Author Judy Blume has gifted us with frank looks at adolescence and sexuality in novels like Forever… and Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. Now, the iconic writer’s own story is the subject of documentary Judy Blume Forever, which premiered at 2023’s Sundance Film Festival.

Directed by Davina Pardo and Leah Wolchok, Judy Blume Forever interviews those who have been inspired by Blume, such as Samantha Bee, Tayari Jones, Molly Ringwald, and Anna Konkle. As author Jason Reynolds says of Blume’s impact, “I don’t think that Judy Blume wrote her books to be timeless. I think she wrote her books to be timely, and they were so timely that they became timeless.”

Perhaps most importantly, Judy Blume Forever also lets us hear from Blume herself, who takes us through her life and legacy with the refreshing kind of honesty she’s always been known for. From her interactions with fans to her fight against censorship and banning books, it’s a delight to hear from Blume — and a reminder of just how important her work remains to this day.

Judy Blume Forever hits Prime Video April 21.
