Image title | A skua tries to chase an Adelie penguin away from its nest at Cape Royds, Ross Island. This penguin waits for his mate to return and relieve him of nest duty. Like other penguins, he has been waiting for over two weeks for his mate to return from foraging in the sea. However, the journey to the ice edge is long due to unusual extensive sea ice and it is unlikely his mate will return. |
