Japanese coin ( 硬貨)
An image of the old 500 yen coin, minted in 1982 to replace the 500 yen note. Because it became the victim of counterfeiting, as the South Korean 500 won coin could be easily modified to the exact weight of the ¥500 coin, a new design with anti-counterfeiting measures was minted in 2000 to replace it; however the old coin is still in circulation.
