That is all

‘Succession’ star Kieran Culkin explains why J Smith-Cameron threw a drink in his face

Anyone who’s seen Succession will know that Kieran Culkin and J Smith-Cameron’s characters, Roman and Gerri, have something of an odd relationship — and it sounds like their IRL dynamic is almost as unusual.

A few days ago, Smith-Cameron posted a tweet saying “I threw a drink in Kieran’s face tonight,” followed by “he had it coming” and then some important photo evidence.

Of course, during his appearance on Wednesday on The Late Show, Stephen Colbert had to get to the bottom of what happened — and apparently it all stemmed from Smith-Cameron worrying about the number of jokes about her age in the script.

“Later on we’re having a dinner and Sarah Snook is saying, she’s like, ‘You know men’s ears and noses never stop growing, so as they get older they have long ears,'” Culkin explains, before he mimes how he pointed at Smith-Cameron. “And I said, ‘Are you sure that’s just men?'”

Apparently that was just the first of several age-related jokes that evening, culminating in a face-full of Pellegrino for his troubles.

Culkin’s summary? “I deserved it.”
